The Apex

The top 60 floors of the Spire. Above all other occupied space on Earth.

Floors 601–660 of the Spire — 0.25 miles above the highest Pillar, alone above the formation. The Apex is the crown of Origin, in every sense.

Effective elevation ~13,000–14,000 ft on the Colorado Plateau site, comparable to Mauna Kea. This is real-class observatory altitude, with the difference that you arrive by elevator.

The highest large-aperture telescope on Earth

A 20m optical telescope integrated into the Apex. Not the world's largest aperture (Chile's ELT will be 39.3m), but the highest — and the only telescope of its class on continuously stable bedrock. See The Telescope.

What lives in the top 60

Telescope and observatory floors. Civic observation. The highest residential addresses ever built — by arrangement only, essentially priceless. The Crown bell. Mast extensions for atmospheric instruments and possible wind generation. Apex commercial — companies pay anything to plant a flag at the highest occupied floor on Earth.

Pressure, oxygen, weather

At ~13,000 ft, atmospheric pressure is roughly 60% of sea level. Aviation and mountaineering medicine is mature; optional pressurization on upper Apex floors is a settled engineering pattern. Apex residents and workers are altitude-adapted by exposure or pressurized by enclosure. Both are normal.

How you reach the Apex

Express elevator system (cable-less, ThyssenKrupp MULTI-class) from Foundation directly to the Apex sky lobby with one transfer at the Crown tier. Telescope service routing is independent. Helipad access at the top of the Spire for emergency egress and high-priority transit.
