Fire Department

300–500 firefighters on duty 24/7. External response is impossible at this scale — Origin runs its own.

A 1.5-mile structure cannot rely on outside fire response. By the time external trucks arrive, most of the formation is unreachable from the ground. Origin Fire Department is the only structure-scale solution.

300–500 on duty, six to eight stations

Distributed across 6–8 fire stations integrated at skybridge tiers — one per tier, plus Foundation and Apex. Specialized high-rise rescue equipment, vertical rescue helicopters at multiple helipads, rappel-capable teams. Full department structure: suppression, hazmat, technical rescue, EMS coordination, fire prevention, training.

High-pressure standpipe with booster pumps every 50 floors

Water cannot reach the Apex from a single ground-level pump. Pressure-zoned standpipe system with booster pumps every 50 floors. Sprinklers throughout. Specialty agents (clean agent, foam, dry chemical) at high-value occupancies — telescope, data center floors, kitchens, mechanical.

Each Pillar fire-isolated from the others

Each Pillar is structurally and fire-isolated from the Spire and from the other Pillars. Fire in one Pillar cannot spread to the Spire or other Pillars. Skybridges have additional fire protection because they are structural — losing one in a fire is a structural emergency, not just a life-safety one.

Refuge floors every 50 floors

Mandatory refuge floors every 50 floors with independent air supply, fire-rated separation, and direct elevator/stair access for evacuation. A resident on floor 480 evacuates down 30 floors maximum to reach a refuge with sealed air and a direct path out.

Rappel and rotor

High-rise rescue helicopter capability at multiple Pillar helipads. Rappel-capable rescue teams for facade rescue at any elevation. Vertical rescue equipment staged at every fire station tier. The Apex is reachable by helicopter or by elevator from below — never by external ladder.
