Origin is a target by virtue of being Origin. Defense planning starts at the buffer zone perimeter and runs through to structural resilience: the same buttressed-formation geometry that makes Origin stable also makes it nearly impossible to topple.
50,000–200,000 acres
Buffer zone perimeter with vehicle screening at all approaches. Restricted ground access. Possibly active intercept capability coordinated with federal authorities. The buffer is also where solar generation, regional airport, and long-distance pipelines live — it is productive land, not exclusion zone.
Permanent no-fly zone with teeth
Origin requires a federally-designated permanent no-fly zone of significant radius. Restricted airspace coordinated with FAA, NORAD, and DHS. Active intercept protocols for unauthorized approach. eVTOL and helicopter access through approved corridors only, with identity verification at takeoff.
Verified identity at every control point
Every person inside Origin is verified through .nw at multiple control points. Visitors pre-registered and tracked. No anonymous movement above Foundation. Underground deliveries — all goods enter Origin through screened tunnels, no surface delivery to the structure itself.
Building systems are isolated
Building control systems (HVAC, elevator, water, power, security) are isolated networks, not internet-exposed. This is its own major program element — a building this dependent on automation cannot be operated through systems that connect to the public internet. Cyber defense team is permanent staff.
Codependence cuts both ways
The structural codependence that makes Origin stand also makes it resilient. A 9/11-class airliner attack on a single Pillar would be devastating to that Pillar but would not collapse the formation. The Spire is buttressed by five Pillars, not one. Lose one, four remain. Lose two, the formation degrades but is recoverable. Lose three or more in coordinated attack — that is a different scenario, planned for separately, mitigated by airspace control.
Coordinate, don't substitute
Origin is national infrastructure by virtue of population and economic significance. Coordinate with DHS, FBI, U.S. Northern Command for protective assignment. Origin Police handles internal law enforcement; federal agencies handle counter-terror, foreign intelligence, and major-incident response. The line between them is set by formal MOU. Pending Federal coordination instrument.
