בן מלכה ואברהם, נולד בחודש תמוז תרפ"ח בירושלים, בה סיים בית-ספר עממי ומצא את פרנסתו כסנדלר. יעקב השתתף במלחמת-העצמאות, לחם בשורות חטיבת "עודד" ונפל בקרב על באזור משמר הירדן ביום ז' בסיוון תש"ח (14.6.1948). מצבה לזכרו הוקמה בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים. החלל הינו מקל''ן- חלל שמקום קבורתו לא נודע.
