Turai Shmuel Vachtfogel served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shmuel served with the Infantry. Shmuel served in the War of Independence. Shmuel was 19 years old.
בן בלומה-רחל והרב יצחק-יעקב, נולד ביום ג' באדר ב' תרפ"ט (15.3.1929) בירושלים. למד ב"תלמוד תורה" ובישיבת "מאה שערים" שבהנהלת אביו. שמואל נשתבח במידות טובות ובנכונות להיטיב לזולת והצטיין בלימודים ובהתנהגות דתית-מוסרית. מתוך רצון להתפרנס מיגיע כפיו עבר לישיבת "תורה ומלאכה" בכפר אברהם ליד פתח תקווה והשתלם במלאכת הסריגה, ואחר- כך עבד במקצוע זה בתל-אביב. בשנת 1946 הצטרף למחתרת אצ"ל ואחרי הכשרה צבאית השתתף בפעולות נגד השלטון הזר. בחורף תש"ח מילא תפקידים אחראיים בפעולות נגד ערבים על גבול יפו ונתמנה אחראי למפעל תעשיית הנשק של אצ"ל. בחול- המועד פסח תש"ח יצא לקרב לכיבוש יפו ונפל בקרב ביום ט"ז בניסן תש"ח (25.4.1948). גופתו לא נמצאה מעולם. מצבה לזכרו הוקמה בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים. החלל הינו מקל''ן- חלל שמקום קבורתו לא נודע.
