בן חביבה ושלום, נולד בשנת תרפ"ב (1922) בתימן ועלה ארצה בשנת 1946. יוסף הצטרף ל"הגנה" והתנדב לשרת כנוטר. למרות שכרו המועט מצא סיפוק בשירותו למען ביטחון היישוב והתנהגותו ומסירותו היו למופת. בחורף תש"ח עבר מהנוטרות לשרת בחטיבת "אלכסנדרוני". ביום כ"א באייר תש"ח (30.5.1948), השתתף במבצע "שמחה" לכיבוש טירה ובקרב זה נפל. גופתו לא נמצאה. מצבה לזכרו הוקמה בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים. החלל הינו מקל''ן- חלל שמקום קבורתו לא נודע.
