Turai David Menahem served in the Israel Defense Forces. David served with the Lehi. David served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן ברכה ויוסף, נולד בשנת 1920 בעיר פורט-סעיד, מצרים. בהיותו בן 14 הגיע לארץ ב-20.12.1934 והשלים את לימודיו בבית-הספר התיכון "נורדיה" בתל-אביב ובבית-הספר הגבוה למשפט ולכלכלה בתל-אביב, בו למד שנה נוספת. נתקבל כפקיד במחלקה המשפטית של הפיקוח על המזונות, במסגרת המנגנון האדמיניסטרטיבי של ממשלת המנדט, והואיל וידע את שלוש השפות הרשמיות (עברית, אנגלית וערבית) עסק בתרגומים. אחר-כך, כשאחיו הידוע בשם "יוקי" פתח את התיאטרון שלו, עבד אצלו כמנהל אדמיניסטרטיבי. דויד היה חבר בתנועת "מכבי" ופעיל במחתרת לח"י. אחר-כך התגייס עם כל אנשי ארגונו לצה"ל וצורף לגדוד "שריון ופשיטה" בחטיבה 8. סיים בהצלחה רבה קורס אלחוטאים (בו השתלם חמישה ימים בלבד!) והשתתף בכיבוש לוד בעת מבצע "דני". בפעולה זו נפל, ביום ג' בתמוז תש"ח (10.7.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית- הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
