Samal Akiva Praiman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Akiva served with the Armored Corps. Akiva served in the War of Independence. Akiva was 18 years old.
בן אהובה ואשר, נולד ביום ו' בניסן תר"ץ (4.4.1930) בעיר קרקוב, פולין ועלה לארץ ב-3.2.1935. כאן למד בבית-הספר "ביאליק" ובבית-הספר המקצועי "שבח" בתל-אביב (מכונאות וחרטות) ובסיימו את הלימודים יצא לשנת שירות. מגיל 13 היה חבר ב"הגנה". היה בשעתו הצעיר בחבורה, שנטל על עצמו תפקידים של מבוגרים. השתייך לפלוגת צופי-ים. כשפרצה מלחמת-העצמאות היה עקיבא מהראשונים לגיוס ושירת בחטיבת "קריתי". הוסיף שנה לגילו (17) כדי לקבל תפקידים קרביים. שמר בעמדות והשתתף בקרבות על גבולות תל-אביב בתפקיד מ"כ של חבלנים. אחר-כך יצא כסמל-חבלן לפריצת הדרך לירושלים והשתתף בקרבות עליה. לפני צאתו לתפקיד מיוחד שהוטל עליו בא להיפרד מהוריו ובחוזרו נהרג בתאונת-דרכים ליד בית דגון ביום ג' בתמוז תש"ח (10.7.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
