בן רחל ומשה, נולד בשנת 1931 בעיירה לוקוב, פולין. היה מניצולי השואה שפקדה את העם היהודי בשנים ת"ש-תש"ה. עם תום המלחמה הצליח להגיע לאוסטריה ושימש פקיד הסוכנות ומדריך ב"הגנה". בייחוד היה פעיל בהברחת יהודים מאוסטריה לגרמניה לשם החשת עלייתם לארץ-ישראל. עלייתו שלו נדחתה בגלל כך עד לעיצומה של מלחמת-העצמאות, כאשר זכה והגיע לארץ כדי להסתפח אל הלוחמים. אבל נועדו לו לחיות במולדת ימים ספורים בלבד. זרח היה בין העולים החדשים שנשלחו מיד עם בואם למנרה, ואך הספיקו לבוא במגע ראשון עם הנוף ותנאי ההתיישבות העובדת והגנתה - נספו באסון התפוצצות שאירעה במשק ביום כ"ב באב תש"ח (27.8.1948). ביום ט"ז באב תש"י (30.7.1950) הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
