Turai Shimon Songo served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shimon served with the Infantry. Shimon served in the Six-Day War. Shimon was 35 years old.
בן אליהו וסוליקה. נולד ביום כ"ה בתשרי תרצ"ב (6.10.1931) בעיר פז אשר במרוקו. בשנת 1955 עלה לארץ. השתייך ל"הפועל המזרחי". היה פועל באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים וכך מצא את פרנסתו. בפברואר 1954 גויס לצה"ל ולאחר שסיים את שירות-החובה היה יוצא מדי פעם לשירות-מילואים. אך בפרוץ מלחמת ששת הימים נקרא שוב לדגל, וביום הראשון לקרבותיה, הוא כ"ו באייר תשכ"ז (5.6.1967), נפל בקרב שנערך בחוות- הלימוד בירושלים. הניח אשה, שתי בנות ובן. הקטנה שבבנות טרם מלאו לה שנה ומחצית-השנה בנפול אביה. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי שעל הר-הרצל בירושלים. בספר "נזכור,, בהוצאת האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים והסתדרות הסטודנטים שבה ובעריכת יהודה האזרחי, הובאו תולדותיו ותיאור קרבו האחרון.
