Rav Turai David Hendler served in the Israel Defense Forces. David served with the Artillery Corps. David served in the Six-Day War. David was 20 years old.
בן מרדכי וגיזלה. נולד ביום כ"ב באייר תש"ז (12.5.1947) בבוקרשט, בירת רומניה. המשפחה עלתה לארץ בשנת 1950 והוא עודנו ילד קטן. בהגיע מועד הלימודים התחיל ללמוד בבית הספר היסודי בשפיר ולאחר מכן למד בישיבה תיכונית "אור עציון" במרכז שפירא. השתייך לתנועת "בני עקיבא". עסק בחקלאות. גויס לצה"ל באוגוסט 1965. בעוד הוא נמצא בשירות חובה פרצה מלחמת ששת הימים, וביום הששי לקרבותיה, הוא ב' בסיון תשכ"ז (10.6.1967), נפל במטעי קיבוץ דפנה כשמטרת המבצע היתה כיבוש הרמה הסורית; הזחל"ם, אשר בראש צוותו עמד דויד, התפוצץ בעמדה - וכך מצא דויד את מותו. הובא לקבורה בבית הקברות הצבאי בעפולה ולאחר זמן הועבר למנוחת עולמים בבית הקברות הצבאי שעל הר הרצל בירושלים.
