בן לובה מלכה ומשה. נולד בשנת תרפ"ז 1925 בווארשה, בירת פולין. בעירו רכש השכלה עממית וכן את מקצוע המסגרות, בו עסק לימים כשבגר. עבר את אימי מלחמת-העולם השנייה והשואה באירופה ובשנת 1946 עלה לארץ-ישראל לאחר שהיה עצור במחנה הפליטים בקפריסין. בתחילת יוני 1948 גויס לצה"ל והוצב בגדוד 23 בחטיבת "כרמלי". ביום כ' בתשרי תש"ט (23.10.1948), שעה שהחזיק עם חבריו לפלוגה במשלט באזור מנרה, הותקף המוצב ונכבש בידי כוחות אויב גדולים פי כמה. המחלקה נאלצה לסגת וזו היתה הפעם האחרונה שיוסף נראה בחיים. זמן מה היה בחזקת נעדר עד אשר נואשו מלמצוא אותו והוא הוכרז כחלל שנפל בקרב. בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים נקבעה חלקה מיוחדת ובה הוקמו מצבות לזכרם של הנופלים במלחמת העצמאות, אשר מקום קבורתם לא נודע. בחלקה זו הוקמה מצבה לזכרו של יוסף. החלל הינו מקל''ן- חלל שמקום קבורתו לא נודע.
