Turai Shlomo Shveitzer served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shlomo served with the Armored Corps. Shlomo served in the War of Independence. Shlomo was 19 years old.

What Happened

בן בתיה וצבי, נולד ביום כ"ט בכסלו תר"ץ (31.12.1929) בווארשה, בירת פולין ולמד בבית-ספר יסודי. עם הכיבוש הגרמני של פולין היה בין הכלואים בגיטו ווארשה, הועבר למחנה-ההשמדה אושוויץ, ניצל ממות והצטרף, עם השחרור, לקיבוץ ברגן-בלזן. הוא למד עברית בבית-הילדים בהמבורג ועלה לארץ במסגרת עליית-הנוער, עם ילדי ברגן-בלזן ב-30.4.1946. כאשר היה בחברת- נוער בקרית ענבים התמחה בכל העבודות החקלאיות וגילה כשרון ואהבה לעבודה. הוא למד גם סנדלרות, היה נער חברתי מאוד, שקט ומסור. חבר ב"הגנה". התנדב לפלמ"ח והיה פעיל עוד בימי המחתרת. בשעת המצור על ירושלים השתתף שלמה בליווי שיירות ובפריצת הדרך כחייל בחטיבת "הראל", ואחר-כך עבר לנגב. השתתף במבצע "חורב" לסילוק הצבא המצרי מתחומי ישראל ונפל בקרב על משלטי צומת רפיח, ביום ה' בטבת תש"ט (6.1.1949). מצבה לזכרו הוקמה בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים. החלל הינו מקל''ן- חלל שמקום קבורתו לא נודע.
