What Happened

בן חנה ומאיר, נולד בשנת 1900 בווארשה, בירת פולין. סיים את בית-הספר התיכון בזמן שפולין כבר הגיעה לעצמאות והתחיל לעבוד כפקיד ממשלתי. נסיבות הזמן הביאוהו לרוסיה, שם שירת כקצין בצבא הרוסי. אברהם הרגיש את עצמו מבודד מאין ידידים וחברים מקורבים וברח. הוא הגיע לצרפת ומשם עבר ליוון, נשא אישה ושניהם עלו ארצה בשנת 1928. אברהם התיישב בתל-אביב, היה צבע, אך נמשך לחיי צבא ולשירות המולדת. במלחמת-העולם השנייה התגייס אף-על-פי שצו הגיוס לא חל עליו ושירת שבע שנים בחיל-האוויר המלכותי הבריטי. מששוחרר חזר לחייו האזרחיים ולמקצועו. היה שתקן מטבעו, אך בלטה בו התכונה לעזור לזולת ולעשות למען הכלל. עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות היה בין הראשונים שיצאו להגן על שכונות-הספר. היה משוייך לחיל הרגלים והשריון והשתתף בקרב בבית-החרושת "היוצק", בגבעת הרצל ונפצע פעמים מספר בלי שגילה זאת למשפחתו. אברהם נפל ביום כ' בניסן תש"ח (30.4.1948) בקרב בשכונת מנשיה בגבול תל- אביב-יפו, כאשר טנק בריטי, שבא לעזרת הערבים, הפגיז את העמדה. הועבר לבית-חולים "הדסה" ושם מת. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק. השאיר אחריו אישה, מרים, ושתי בנות.
