Turai Gershon Fishman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Gershon served with the Armored Corps. Gershon served in the War of Independence. Gershon was 19 years old.

What Happened

בן חיה ושמואל, נולד ביום כ"ג בכסלו תרפ"ט (6.12.1928) בעיר נירגהזה, הונגריה. סיים בית-ספר יסודי והתמחה כטכנאי שיניים. בימי מלחמת-העולם השנייה והשואה עבר את כל מדורי הזוועה של הזמן וניצל. בשנת 1946 הגיע לארץ באוניית-המעפילים "הגנה". גרשון התגורר בבאר יעקב ובמשך כשנה שירת כנוטר. הוא הצטרף ל"הגנה", סיים קורס צלפים, שירת בחטיבת "קריתי" ונפל בשעת מילוי תפקידו ליד אבו-כביר ביום כ"ב בניסן תש"ח (1.5.1948). כדור האויב נכנס לפיו וכעבור עשרים דקות נפטר. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
