Turai Yosef Bakerman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yosef served with the Infantry. Yosef served in the War of Independence. Yosef was 20 years old.
בן רבקה ושמעון, נולד ביום ט"ז בטבת תרפ"ז (21.1.1927) בחיפה. תחילה למד בבן שמן ואחר-כך בבית-הספר העממי בגבעת השלושה. משם עבר לחברת האשלג בצפון ים-המלח לשם לימוד מקצוע המכונאות. הוא שאף לצאת להתיישבות וכחבר "הנוער העובד" יצא להכשרה לדגניה ומשם עבר לבית הערבה, ולאחרונה לקיבוץ נען. יוסף הצטרף ל"הגנה" עוד בהיותו תלמיד בצפון ים- המלח וגויס לפלמ"ח עם אנשי ההכשרה המגויסת. יוסף היה בין הראשונים שיצאו להגנת הנגב והשתתף בפעולות- סיור. ביום כ"ו בכסלו תש"ח (9.12.1947) יצאה כיתה לסיור מגבולות לכיוון נירים. בדרכה טעתה ונכנסה לכפר שועוט, שם ניסה המון ערבי לעכב אותה. בקרב שהתפתח נפלו שישה מאנשי הכיתה, ורק שלושה הצליחו להימלט. יוסף נפל בקרב זה ונקבר בנחלת יצחק. ביום כ"ה באלול תשי"ד (23.9.1954) הועבר מן החלקה האזרחית שבנחלת יצחק לבית- הקברות הצבאי שבמקום.
