Turai Yaakov Mizrahi served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yaakov served with the Armored Corps. Yaakov served in the War of Independence. Yaakov was 20 years old.

What Happened

בן שושנה ומרדכי, נולד ביום י"ב בתמוז תרפ"ז (12.7.1927) בירושלים. סיים את חוק לימודיו בבית-הספר "דורש-ציון" והתחיל לעבוד בסנדלרות. כשנתיים עסק במקצועו זה ועזר בכל יכולתו לאביו ולמשפחתו הגדולה. היה חבר "הנוער העובד". בהיותו בן 16 שנה התגייס לצבא הבריטי ושירת ביחידות שונות עד אשר הוקמה הבריגדה היהודית ובבוא המועד הועבר אליה. עם הבריגדה עבר על-פני ארצות אירופה המערבית. כחמש שנים וחצי היה במדים. עם פירוק הבריגדה השתחרר מהצבא הבריטי ובחוזרו הביתה עבד תחילה כנהג. באחרונה עבד בפוליטורה. עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות התייצב לשירות העם. הוא נשלח למחנה צבאי ברחובות ונפצע שם בשעת מילוי תפקידו. יעקב הועבר לבית-החולים "הירקון" בתל-אביב ומת כעבור שבועיים, ביום י"ג באייר תש"ח (22.5.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק. הניח אישה, שנשא שמונה חודשים לפני נפילתו.
