Rav Turai Yehuda-Leon Susu served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yehuda-Leon served with the Paratroopers Brigade. Yehuda-Leon served in the Sinai Campaign. Yehuda-Leon was 19 years old.

What Happened

בן אליהו וקלר. נולד ביום כ' באלול תרצ"ז (27.8.1937) באיסטנבול שבתורכיה. עלה לארץ במסגרת "עליית-הנוער" בשנת 1949 והתחיל לומד במוסד החינוכי במגדיאל. ילד שקט היה מטבעו ולא התבלט בחברה, אבל לאחר שחלפה תקופת-הקליטה התגלה כנער בעל תכונות יקרות-ערך ועל אלו העריכוהו וכיבדוהו. עם התבגרותו במוסד גילה רצינות ואחריות בכל אשר פנה - בעבודתו החקלאית ובלימודיו. סיים את לימודיו בבית-הספר החקלאי במגדיאל. שטח פעילותו המיוחדת היה הספורט. בהתקרב מועד סיום-הכשרתה של חברתו הצטרף יחד עם חברים אחרים לגרעין שהלך למושב תלמי-יפה. בהתגייסו לצה"ל התנדב ליחידת-הצנחנים ועד יומו האחרון מילא במסירות את התפקידים הקשים שהוטלו עליו. נפל בקרב במערכת-סיני ביום כ"ז במרחשון תשי"ז (1.11.1956). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בקרית-שאול. זכרו הועלה בחוברת טבת תשי"ז של "דפים" (בטאון המחלקה לעליית ילדים ונוער שהופיע מטעם הסוכנות היהודית בירושלים). גם בספרו של אורי מילשטיין, "מלחמות הצנחנים", הועלה זכרו.
