What Happened

בן רבקה וישראל, נולד בשנת 1908 בעיר פריסטיק, גליציה המערבית, פולין, למשפחה חסידית-מסורתית ואמידה. תחילה למד ב"חדר", אחר-כך המשיך את לימודיו אצל מורה פרטי. הוא מרד בסביבתו, שהתנגדה לציונות, הצטרף להסתדרות הציונים הכלליים ויצא להכשרה חלוצית. בשנת 1939 עלה לארץ בעלייה ב'. בארץ עבד תחילה בחקלאות בחדרה ובבנימינה, אחרי-כן השתקע בתל-אביב, נשא אישה והחל לעסוק במסחר. שלמה ניחן בחוש הומור והיה חביב ומקובל על האנשים שבא עימם במגע. היה חבר פעיל ב"הגנה". בפרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות שירת בחטיבת "קריתי" ולחם באזור המרכז. ביום י"א באלול תש"ח (15.9.1948) בשעת חילופי-משמרות בדרך לתצפית, נפגע מכדור אויב ליד בית- נבאללה. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
