Turai Menahem Avini served in the Israel Defense Forces. Menahem served with the Armored Corps. Menahem served in the War of Independence. Menahem was 30 years old.
בן מרים ועובדיה, נולד ביום י"ז בכסלו תרע"ח (2.12.1917) בעדן. עלה ארצה עם הוריו בשנת 1921 וגר בחולון. למד בבית-ספר עממי בחולון ועבד במכבסה. משסיים את חוק לימודיו בבית-הספר נחלץ לעזרת משפחתו ועבד כפועל מכבסה בתל-אביב. היה בחור צנוע ושמח בחלקו, בן מסור להוריו ואדם נוח לבריות. אדיב וטוב-לב. נכון תמיד לעזור לזולת. עם פרוץ המלחמה התגייס מיד, על אף היותו התומך העיקרי במשפחתו, ושירת בגדוד מרגמות כבדות. הוא עמד לשאת אישה, אך ימים מספר לפני הנישואין יצא לפעולה שבה נפגע בראשו. מנחם מת בבית-החולים דג'אני ביפו ביום כ' באלול תש"ח (24.9.1948) והובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
