Teen arrested for child neglect after abandoning baby to meet her friends at McDonald’s

Daycare worker Kira Faust, 19, was arrested in Aberdeen on Monday after police were alerted to an infant left alone in a property, according to a statement by the Aberdeen Police Department, which did not elaborate on how Faust was connected to the baby.

“Upon arrival, officers located the infant unattended in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions,” police said.

Facebook/Aberdeen Police Department¿ “With assistance from the Bel Air Police Department, officers located Faust, who stated she had left the child home alone while she went to meet friends at a McDonald’s in Bel Air,” police said of the fast-food restaurant around 10 miles from where the baby was left alone.

“Aberdeen Police took temporary custody of the child, and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Aberdeen provided officers with essential baby supplies while Child Protective Services worked to secure a safe placement for the child,” the statement continued.

Faust was charged with child neglect and was later released on her own recognizance, according to police.

However, the teen appears to have worked most recently as a daycare teacher at Churchville Presbyterian Preschool and Daycare in Aberdeen, according to LinkedIn.

The daycare did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
