City Hall claimed that Mayor Zohran Mamdani is working to "protect New Yorkers" -- despite Hizzoner pushing to close Rikers and doubling down on New York's sanctuary city policies. NY Post composite / istock/ Gett Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions This boast: “Mayor Mamdani Takes Bold, Unapologetic Actions to Protect New Yorkers” — City Hall press release, Tuesday
We say: And what actions might those be?
“Doubling down on Sanctuary City policies” and “committing firmly to closing” the Rikers jail complex.
No joke: The mayor’s idea of keeping people safe is making sure the city is a place where illegal immigrants who may have committed violent crimes are shielded from arrest, and closing the city’s main jail complex — even if there’s no place else for convicts to go. Feel safer yet?
“That could have been a woman they were trying to rescue.” — MS NOW’s Lawrence O’Donnell, Wednesday
We say: Never mind Iran’s bid to acquire nukes — or the US and Israel’s war to stop it.
Never mind that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just oversaw an utterly stunning, against-the-odds rescue of an airman downed behind enemy lines.
The big news, per O’Donnell? The SecDef uttered the US military motto, “We leave no man behind,” which — shudder! — leaves out women. Talk about clueless!
“A North American Treaty Organization Without America?” — The New York Times, April 3
We say: The Gray Lady’s headline writer must’ve been so proud of coming up with such a cutesy play on the word “America,” and aiding the paper’s bid to blame President Trump for a US-NATO rift.
Trouble is, the acronym stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not North American.
And the story’s bid to blame Trump was every bid as wrong as the headline.
“Weigh in on . . . the fact that there is no head of DHS right now at a time when DHS is shut down. Does that do real damage?” — NBC News’ Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press,” Sunday
We say: Sorry, but Markwayne Mullin was sworn in as Homeland Security secretary on March 24. Sure, all journalists goof up once in a while.
But if your whole question revolves around a key fact, you’d think you’d get that fact right, no?
