Add The California Post on Google Adam Brubaker, the head football coach at Royal High School in California, is being punished for a foolish act that ended with one of his players wincing in pain.
A video has surfaced on social media of Brubaker yelling at one of his own players before approaching him and kicking a football into the player — which hits the player in the groin area, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.
The incident has resulted in Brubaker being placed on leave.
He is expected to find out Friday whether he’ll be fired by the Simi Valley school.
Brubaker was upset because that player, who was named Julian, had tackled and injured one of the team’s best players during the practice.
“I had a chance to delete the practice film and I didn’t. I felt that tampering with the footage would be worse. I walked up to Julian after practice and apologized. I explained myself to him, and he accepted my apology,” Brubaker said, per On SI’s Tarek Fattal.
