Turai Erez Hirshler served in the Israel Defense Forces. Erez served with the Infantry. Erez served in the War of Independence. Erez was 19 years old.
בן זיוה ואליהו, נולד ביום כ' באייר תרפ"ח (10.5.1928) בתל-אביב. למד בבית-הספר העממי "נס ציונה" בתל-אביב והיה חבר "השומר הצעיר". היה נער שואף לפעילות ונשא בעול תפקידים בבית-הספר ובתנועה. כבר בגיל צעיר התקשר לתנועה ושאף ללכת לקיבוץ ולחיות חיי כפר. במלאות לו 15 שנים הצטרף לחברת-נוער של "השומר הצעיר" שעשתה את הכשרתה בקיבוץ בית זרע. ארז עבד בעבודה האהובה עליו, במרעה הצאן, והתאמן ב"הגנה" במסגרת הפלמ"ח. בתחילת שנת 1947 עלה עם חבריו להתיישבות בגוש עציון, והם יסדו את קיבוץ רבדים. בראשית מלחמת-העצמאות, ביום ג' בשבט תש"ח (14.1.1948), ערכו הערבים התקפה כבדה על גוש עציון. כוח קטן, שארז נימנה עם אנשיו, יצא להתקפת-נגד והצליח להפתיע את התוקפים ולהניסם. בקרב זה נפל. דפים לזכרו הוקדשו בחוברת: "חנוך, יאיר, ארז, איציק, לזכרם" של קיבוץ רבדים. ביום כ"ה בחשוון תש"י (17.11.1949) הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
