Rav Turai Benyamin Oved served in the Israel Defense Forces. Benyamin served with the General Service Corps. Benyamin was 20 years old.
בן שולמית וזכריה, נולד ביום ג' בשבט תש"ך (1.2.1960) בקריית עקרון. הוריו עלו מתימן בעליית "מרבד הקסמים", בשנותיה הראשונות של המדינה, והתיישבו בקריית עקרון. בני למד בבית-הספר היסודי "בן-צבי", והצטיין בלימודיו. בשל היותו תלמיד מחונן, הוא נשלח להמשך לימודיו בפנימייה "כרמית" בירושלים. בני היה חבר בתנועת "הנוער העובד והלומד". הוא אהב ספורט, והיה מעורב בפעילות חברתית במסגרת תנועתו. בני היה בן מסור להוריו. בפברואר 1978 הוא התגייס לצה"ל, עבר אימוני טירונות, ובנובמבר 1978 עלה לדרגת רב"ט. ביום כ"ה בניסן תש"ם (11.4.1980), נפל בני בעת שירותו. בן 20 שנים הוא היה במותו. הוא הובא למנוחות בבית-הקברות הצבאי ברחובות. בני השאיר אחריו הורים ושני אחים. מפקד יחידתו כתב עליו למשפחתו: "התרשמתי במיוחד ממסירותו לבצע את המוטל עליו. בנכם ראה בשירותו בצה"ל זכות גדולה. היה בו הרצון לשרת את המדינה ולתרום לחיזוקה".
