Segen Yaron Katz served in the Israeli Air Force. Yaron served with the Ramat David Airbase. Yaron was 20 years old.
בן יוסף (הכהן) ומרים. נולד ביום י"ד בחשון תשי"ט (28.10.1958) בתל-אביב. למד בבית-הספר היסודי 'ביאליק' בחולון, ובבית- הספר התיכון 'קוגל' במגמה הריאלית, בו הוכתר גם ב'פרס קוגל' על הצטיינותו בלימודים. הוא היה חבר בלהקת הריקודים העירונית, איתה הופיע באירועים שונים. עם סיום בית-הספר התיכון הוצע לו לירון על-ידי צה"ל להצטרף לקורס-טיס. הוא נענה להצעה זו ומשום כך לא הצטרף אל חבריו לגרעין 'ראם' בנח"ל. בינואר 1977 גויס ירון. הוא עבר את קורס הטיס על שלביו השונים כולל צניחה. במרס 1979 סיים את הקורס והסמך כטייס. ביום כ"ה בניסן תשל"ט (22.4.1979) נפל ירון במילוי תפקידו. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-העלמין הצבאי בחולון. לאחר נפלו הועלה לדרגת סגן. השאיר אחריו הורים, אחות ואח.
