Turai Eliahu Pessah served in the Israel Defense Forces. Eliahu served with the C4i Corps. Eliahu served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן קלרה ויהושע, נולד ביום א' באב תרפ"ט 7.8.1929)) בעיר איזמיר, תורכיה. בעירו למד ב"תלמוד-תורה" ומשסיים את חוק- לימודיו החל לעבוד כשוליה אצל צורף. עבודותיו מצאו חן בעיני בעל בית-המלאכה והיה מוכן לפתוח בשביל הנער סדנה מיוחדת, אבל הצעיר, אשר כבר היה מאורגן בתנועת-נוער ציונית, נשא את נפשו לעלות לארץ-ישראל. אליהו עלה ארצה בשנת 1945 בהיותו בן 16, במסגרת עליית-הנוער. שנתיים היה במשק עיינות והתמחה ברוב ענפי החקלאות. משם עבר עם חבריו לארגון "איתנים", להתיישבות במושב. במלחמת-העצמאות היה מגויס בפלוגת פלמ"ח, התאמן באלחוט ושימש אלחוטאי של פלוגתו. גילה כשרון ויעילות גם בתפקידו הצבאי, כשם שהצטיין בעבודות-יד כאומן וכעובד אדמה בימי הכשרתו. אליהו השתתף ב"מבצע דני" ונפל בקרב בפרוזדור ירושלים ביום י' בתמוז תש"ח 17.7.1948)). הוריו באו ארצה אחרי מותו והשתקעו ביהוד. ביום י"א באדר תש"י 28.2.1950)) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
