Turai Yosef Besso served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yosef served with the Armored Corps. Yosef served in the War of Independence. Yosef was 20 years old.
בן מזל-טוב ומשה, נולד ביום ו' בשבט תרפ"ח (28.1.1928) בעיר איזמיר, תורכיה, סיים שם בית-ספר עממי ולמד סנדלרות. בגיל שש-עשרה הגיע לארץ במסגרת "עליית-הנוער" והתחנך ברמת הכובש. אחרי שנה וחצי לשהותו בקיבוץ השתלם במקצוע הסנדלרות ועבר לתל-אביב. פתח חנות ועמד ברשות עצמו, אך כעבור זמן קצר נשלח, כחבר ה"הגנה", לאימונים באשדות יעקב למשך שנה. משם חזר לתל-אביב אך מיד עם פרוץ מלחמת- העצמאות התנדב לשירות מלא. עם התגייסותו דחה אפשרות של סידור נוח בעיר ויצא עם הראשונים, כאיש חטיבת "גבעתי", להגנת הדרום. חנה בבסיס בבאר טוביה והשתתף בליווי שיירות בדרכי הדרום. משם הועבר למשטרת גדרה וכעבור כמה חודשים נשלח לנגבה. ביום י"ב באייר תש"ח (21.5.1948), נהרג בעת הפצצה מצרית על נגבה והובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנגבה.
