What Happened

בן שרה ודויד, נולד בשנת 1928 בעיר קרוסנו, פולין. הוא סיים בית-ספר עממי ולמד טכנאות-שיניים. אחיו של יצחק, שהיה קצין בצבא הפולני, נפצע קשה ונשאר נכה. ואז נדר יצחק נדר: להיות חייל יהודי בצבא ישראל, שלא לשפוך דמו למען זרים. עוד בהיותו בגרמניה (לשם הגיע מפולין אחרי השחרור) הצטרף ל"הגנה" ובחודש יולי 1948 הגיע לארץ כמגויס. הוצעה לו עבודה במקצועו, כטכנאי-שיניים, אך הוא דחה אותה, אף ויתר על ששת שבועות החופשה, שניתנו לכל עולה חדש, דרש להעבירו מיד לחזית והוצב בחטיבת ירושלים. היה עלם תמיר וחסון ועליז-רוח. משאלת-לבו - להבטיח את האפשרות להוריו שיעלו בעקבותיו לארץ. יצחק נפצע קשה בעומדו על משמרתו בשער הגיא ומת בבית-החולים ביום י"ד בתשרי תש"ט (17.10.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום י"ז באלול תש"י (30.8.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
