Segen Avraham Yaakobi served in the Israel Defense Forces. Avraham served with the Infantry. Avraham served in the War of Independence. Avraham was 24 years old.

What Happened

בן דינה ושם-טוב, נולד ביום י"ב בתשרי תרפ"ד (22.9.1923) בקהילת אנוסי משהד באיראן. המשפחה עלתה לארץ בשנת 1927 והתיישבה בירושלים. באותה שנה נתייתם אברהם מאביו, והאם נשארה עם שני פעוטות, אברהם ואחיו הצעיר. אברהם הוכנס לבית-הספר היסודי "תחכמוני", אך כשגדל החליט שלא לסיים את הלימודים ולמצוא עבודה שתפרנס אותו ותקל את העול שרבץ על אמו. הוא אהב קריאה ונגינה, היה חבר פעיל ב"מכבי" ובאיגוד המשוטטים והירבה בטיולים ובסיורים בארץ. בעיצומה של מלחמת-העולם השנייה התגייס לפלמ"ח ושירת במסגרתו שלוש שנים ביישובי העמק. כאשר חזר לירושלים, מצא עבודה במכירת צורכי חשמל, ויכול היה לתמוך גם באמו ובאחיו הצעיר. בתקופה זו הצטרף לאצ"ל ונשאר בארגון זה גם עם צאתו מן המחתרת להשתתף במלחמת-העצמאות. הוא מילא תפקידים מיוחדים, עבר קורס מפקדים וכינויו היה "סגן אברהם". אברהם נפל במערכה להגנת ירושלים. ביום י"ד באייר תש"ח (23.5.1948), בדרכו לחבל בבניין שליד בית-הספר לשוטרים, עלה על מוקש ונהרג. נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
