Turai Meir Vizel served in the Israel Defense Forces. Meir served with the Infantry. Meir served in the War of Independence. Meir was 19 years old.
בן חנה ויצחק, נולד ביום י"ד באייר תרפ"ט (24.5.1929) בעיר סטמר, חבל טרנסילבניה, רומניה ולמד בבית-ספר עממי. במלחמת-העולם השנייה נשלח למחנה ההשמדה אושוויץ וראה במו עיניו בהשמדת הוריו, שני אחים ואחות. מיד אחרי השחרור שם פניו לארץ-ישראל והגיע לכאן ב-18.5.1946. הוא הצטרף מיד לחברת-הנוער שבשדה נחום שהקימה את גרעין "עשת". שם היה הנער החשדן והמסוגר לאיש-עבודה מוצק-אופי וחבר טוב. כשבועיים לפני ההכרזה על הקמת המדינה התגייס לצבא וסיים קורס מפקדי כיתות, אך העלים זאת ושירת כטוראי מן השורה. מאז לא נפרד ממקלעו גם במסע של קילומטרים רבים ועימו נפל בהסתערו על האויב. ביום י' בתמוז תש"ח (17.7.1948) נפל על רכס ההרים שבין יאלו ללטרון בעומדו להפעיל את המקלע שחל בו מעצור. ביום י"א באדר תש"י (28.2.1950) הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים.
