Turai Shraga Zlikovitch served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shraga served with the Armored Corps. Shraga served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן חוה (אוה) ויוסף, נולד בשנת תרע"ח בעיר באקאו שברומניה. הוא סיים בית-ספר עממי וקורסים להשתלמות ועבד בפקידות בבוקרשט. אחרי מלחמת-העולם השנייה יצא ב"נתיב הבריחה", עבר הכשרה בקבוצה של "הנוער הציוני", העפיל באונייה "הגנה" והגיע לארץ בשנת 1946. עבד כפועל חקלאי בכפר סבא והיה פעיל ב"העובד הציוני". במלחמת-העצמאות השתתף בפעולות ובקרבות שונים ובאחרונה נטל חלק בהגנה על רמת רחל. רמת רחל היתה טריז בשטח הערבי ושלטה על כביש ירושלים-בית לחם. מצבה החמיר כאשר הגיעו לאזור, ביום 19.5.1948, כוחות מצריים ועימם תותחים. האויב ריכז מאמץ לכבוש את הנקודה והיא היתה נתונה בהפגזות כבדות, שגרמו להרס מבני המשק ולדליקות. ב-22 במאי, לאחר הפגזה כבדה, היה מצב המגינים נואש. מחלקת תגבורת יצאה למקום, אך המשוריין שבו נסעו נפגע בפגז ומרבית אנשי התגבורת נפגעו. בהיעדר תגבורת נאלצו המגינים לסגת. בקרב זה נפל, ביום י"ג באייר תש"ח (22.5.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
