Turai Moshe Cohen served in the Israel Defense Forces. Moshe served with the Infantry Corps. Moshe served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן חנה ויחיא, נולד בשנת 1919 בירושלים. הוא למד בבית-ספר יסודי ואחר-כך יצא לעבוד. הצטרף להסתדרות "הנוער העובד" ול"הגנה" ובשנות מהומות-הדמים תרצ"ו-תרצ"ט, השתתף כנוטר מתנדב בהגנה על קרית ענבים. הוא למד נהגות ועבד כנהג. אחרי פרוץ מלחמת-העולם השנייה התנדב לצבא הבריטי ושירת בפלוגה הארצישראלית 462 של חיל-התחבורה. עם הפלוגה נדד דרך מצרים והמדבר המערבי עד איטליה. בטוברוק נשלח לפוצץ מחסן-נשק גרמני, נכווה בכל גופו ובנס ניצל מעיוורון. בשל הצטיינותו הועלה לדרגת לנס-קורפורל (טר"ש). כשטבעה האונייה שהסיעה את פלוגתו למלטה והוא ניצל, נשלח ארצה לחופשה ונשא את ארוסתו לאישה, ובמשך הזמן נולדו לו שתי בנות. אחרי מות הוריו שוחרר בנובמבר 1944 מהצבא וחזר לעבודתו כנהג אזרחי. ביום 4.5.1948 התגייס לחטיבת ירושלים, נלחם באומץ להגנת ירושלים ונפל בהגנה על רמת רחל ביום ד' בתמוז תש"ח (11.7.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
