Turai Reuven Galfman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Reuven served with the Armored Corps. Reuven served in the War of Independence. Reuven was 17 years old.

What Happened

בן חיה-לפשה ואליהו, נולד ביום א' בסיוון תרצ"א (17.5.1931) בפרדס חנה. אחרי סיימו את בית-הספר העממי הביע את דעתו כי "ארצנו קטנה והים גדול ורחב-ידיים ולכן צריך לכבוש אותו", והלך ללמוד ספנות בבית-הספר הימי בחיפה. היה מטובי התלמידים והצטיין בהפלגות-הלימוד שהגיעו עד קפריסין ורודוס. עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות, והוא תלמיד הכיתה השלישית, הוכרח להפסיק את לימודיו אשר התמסר להם בהתלהבות. כשנותקה התחבורה בין חיפה ובין מקום-מגוריו בקרית מוצקין - בפנימייה של בית-הספר הימי, התנדב מיד, למרות גילו הצעיר, לשירות פעיל. שירת בגדוד "הפורצים" בחטיבת "הראל" של הפלמ"ח בקרבות הקסטל ונבי-סמואל ועמד על משמר ירושלים הנצורה. במכתבו האחרון להוריו ציין בסיפוק כי "אנחנו על הסוס". כמקלען מצוין נתן בקרבות רבים חיפוי לחבריו התוקפים, בלי שים לב לכדורים ולפגזים השורקים סביבו ונופלים בקרבתו. ראובן נפל בקרב בהר-ציון ביום ט"ז באייר תש"ח (25.5.1948) בעת הניסיון לפרוץ לרובע היהודי בעיר העתיקה ונקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
