Turai Mordehai Katsenelson served in the Israel Defense Forces. Mordehai served with the Golani Brigade. Mordehai served in the War of Independence. Mordehai was 20 years old.

What Happened

בנם-יחידם של בלה וחיים, נולד ביום ב' בשבט תרפ"ח (24.1.1928) בדגניה ב' וסיים את חוק לימודיו בבית-הספר התיכון אשר בדגניה. משם עבר ללמוד בבית-הספר המקצועי שליד הטכניון העברי בחיפה והצטיין שם בלימודיו. בחוזרו לדגניה עבד במסגרות, מכונאות וכד', וגם ברפת. היה מסור לכל עבודה שעשה וחונן בתבונת-כפים. בפרוץ הקרבות בעמק-הירדן ניסו למונעו מלצאת לקרב משום היותו בן יחיד להוריו, אך הוא לא נשמע ויצא לקרב הקשה על קיום ההתיישבות היהודית בעמק. מרדכי נפצע פצעים אנושים בקרב זה ומת בבית-החולים "שוייצר" בטבריה ביום ז' באייר תש"ח (16.5.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בדגניה א'.
