Turai Rishon Shlomo Polikman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shlomo served with the Armored Corps. Shlomo served in the War of Independence. Shlomo was 22 years old.

What Happened

בן מלכה-עמליה ואברהם-אבא, נולד ביום ג' באייר תרפ"ה (27.4.1925) בעיר פודולאילויה, פלך יאסי, רומניה. עלה לארץ ביום 12.6.1939. קיבל חינוך מסורתי-לאומי וקנה לו השכלה תיכונית. היה לוטש-יהלומים ומסגר לפי מקצועו. מגיל 12 היה חבר ב"מכבי", ושיחק כדורגל בקבוצה א' של "מכבי" חיפה. כמה פעמים קיבל אותות-הצטיינות על משחקו. ב-15.12.1947 התגייס לשירות העם למרות היותו מרותק לעבודה, ונשלח לגליל, לצפת המכותרת. לאחר שסיים קורס מדריכים ואלחוטאים חזר לצפת כסגן מפקד-כיתה. השתתף בפעולות חבלה בוואדי רושמיה ובאפריל יצא לקורס של משטרה צבאית. היה משוייך לחיל השריון וחטיבת גולני. "אני מחכה לתפקידי הגדול" - כתב במכתב האחרון להוריו, שנתקבל לאחר מותו. ביום י' באדר ב' תש"ח (21.3.1948) נסע במשוריין בכביש בין ראש פינה לצפת הנצורה. המשוריין עלה על מוקש חשמלי שהוטמן בידי האויב והוא נהרג עם חבריו. נקבר במחניים. אגודת "מכבי" חיפה יסדה לזכרו קבוצת כדורגל הנקראת על שמו וקבעה גביע נודד לתחרות בינלאומית שנתית. ביום כ"ז באלול תש"ט (21.9.1949) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בחיפה.
