Turai Henig Heler served in the Israel Defense Forces. Henig served with the Armored Corps. Henig served in the War of Independence.
בן שיינדל ודויד, נולד בשנת 1923 בעיר דוקלה, מערב גליציה, פולין. הוא למד ב"חדרים" ובבית-ספר עממי, ואחר-כך עבד כפועל במאפייה. כרבים אחרים נעקר ממקום מגוריו עם פרוץ מלחמת- העולם השנייה בשנת 1939. נלקח למחנות, הועבד בפרך והחזיק מעמד על אף הסבל והמצוקה. אחרי המלחמה הצטרף לקבוצת "הפועל המזרחי" באחד ממחנות-העקורים באירופה והמתין לתורו להעפיל ארצה. כשפרצה מלחמת-העצמאות התייצב לאימוני ה"הגנה" אי-שם באיטליה או בדרום צרפת. עלה ארצה בשיירה של אנשי גח"ל, התגייס לחטיבת "הנגב" ולחם בשורותיה. באמצע אוקטובר נערך מבצע "יואב" במגמה לפרוץ את הדרך לנגב. תחילה רוכז המאמץ בגיזרה המזרחית ועל יחידתו הוטל לכבוש את עיראק אל-מנשיה. ההתקפה נכשלה נוכח כוחות אויב עדיפים, ובקרב זה נפל, ביום י"ג בתשרי תש"ט (16.10.1948). ביום י"ז בכסלו תש"י (8.12.1949) הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
