2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenSCMP’s Asia deskPublished: 1:58pm, 30 Jun 2026Singapore authorities have caught a rider seen in a viral video striking a “Superman” pose while riding a personal mobility device (PMD) in the latest of a series of crackdowns.In the video, taken in the early hours of May 23 outside Keppel MRT station, the rider is caught on camera going faster than cars on his PMD. At one point, he even lies on his tummy with his legs extended as if he is flying. Based on the 170 metres he covered in about 8 seconds, his speed is calculated to be almost 80 km/h.
In comments on the video, social media users called him “crazy” and compared his stunt to those by riders of basikal lajak, or illegally modified brakeless bicycles, in Malaysia.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in a social media post on Saturday that the rider was caught on June 9 and his PMD confiscated. “Further investigations are ongoing,” it said in the post.
The incident was part of a nine-day joint enforcement with police at hotspots in Punggol, Sengkang and Yishun. Their targeted areas included town centres, key congregation areas and selected residential neighbourhoods.
During the operation, the team noted more than 200 offences and seized over 100 active mobility devices and motor vehicles.
