1-MIN READ1-MIN ListenJess MaPublished: 2:32pm, 25 Jun 2026Hong Kong police have arrested a woman after the discovery of a 1.5-metre-long (4.9 feet) crocodile on her balcony led to authorities finding about 100 more reptiles in her home, the South China Morning Post has learned.

A source said police officers and staff from the Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) returned to the flat at midnight on Thursday after finding the crocodile hours earlier, only to discover more reptiles.

“Officers discovered large amounts of animals inside the flat, including many regulated endangered species,” the insider said.

The 35-year-old woman occupying the flat was subsequently arrested.

The case has been passed to the AFCD, with the animals taken away for inspection.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 66-year-old man reported seeing a green reptile on the balcony of the flat, located at a residential block on Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po.
