Vice-chairman of China’s top military decision-making body says first-of-its-kind course sharpened officers’ ideological transformation
2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenPhoebe Zhangin ShenzhenPublished: 5:23pm, 17 Jun 2026The PLA’s top anti-graft officer concluded unprecedented training for senior military officials in Beijing on Tuesday by urging continuing efforts to boost loyalty to the Communist Party and “political rectification”.Zhang Shengmin, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) – China’s top military decision-making body – said the first-of-its-kind training course had sharpened participants’ ideological transformation and sense of responsibility.“We should greet the 100th anniversary of the founding of the PLA with a renewed political outlook,” Zhang said during the closing ceremony at the National Defence University, referring to the milestone that takes place on August 1 next year.
Launched amid China’s military anti-corruption campaign, the course was designed specifically for senior officers from across the country.
