Add The New York Post on Google Five women suffered burns after two goons on a moped allegedly hurled sulfuric acid at them in a sickening drive-by attack in Jersey City, officials said.
The women were behind the wheel on Wilkinson Avenue Monday night when two suspects swept past and lobbed the chemical liquid at them, according to Mayor James Solomon and local outlets.
Authorities believe the heinous attack was targeted and linked to an earlier dispute.
All five victims were rushed to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, including burns and peeling skin caused by the corrosive substance, WABC reported. They have so far not been identified.
“My thoughts are with those hurt in this horrific attack, and I want our communities to know that violence like this has absolutely no place on our streets,” Solomon said in a statement on Facebook.
“I have directed JCPD to use its full resources on the investigation, and to ensure that our officers work around the clock to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
