California families looking to kick off summer with a splash this Memorial Day weekend may want to pack their swimsuits — and maybe some courage.
The country’s “largest floating inflatable water park” is reopening in the Central Valley with giant slides, obstacle courses and a stomach-dropping new attraction aimed at thrill-seekers trying to beat the heat.
Splash-n-Dash Aqua Park will launch its ninth season Saturday, May 23, at Lake McSwain near Snelling, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
The massive 200,000-square-foot floating playground features oversized slides, climbing walls, jump pads and obstacle-course style challenges spread across the lake.
Park officials describe the attraction as a place for “over-the-top adventures, mind-blowing acrobatic thrills and safe, yet fun, athletic challenges.”
This year’s biggest addition is the revamped “Big Chivo” slide, which now features a towering 20-foot drop followed by 30 feet of high-speed splashdown action.

The floating attraction is located about 25 miles northeast of Merced at 9090 Lake McClure Road in Snelling.
Tickets are available online and at the park, though officials warn entry is first-come, first-served during busy weekends.
Families with younger kids can also check out the 5,500-square-foot “Lil’ Splash” obstacle course designed for children under 7 years old or shorter than 45 inches tall. Weekend admission for the kid-friendly area costs $27 per child.
Parents supervising children in the Lil’ Splash zone do not need separate tickets.
Visitors can shave $5 off admission by visiting on weekdays and save another $10 per ticket by booking online ahead of time.
The park also offers cabana rentals, paddle boards, kayaks and lakeside seating for visitors looking to turn the trip into a full-day summer escape.
