Legal counsel says Mo Li was previously admitted to several overseas institutions, including in Beijing and Thailand
2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenBrian WongPublished: 2:31pm, 4 May 2026Updated: 2:35pm, 4 May 2026A Hong Kong dancer left paralysed after being struck by a giant screen at a concert by popular Cantopop boy band Mirror testified for the first time in court on Monday, with his lawyer revealing he had received treatment in Beijing and Thailand after the accident.
The District Court assessed the damages to be awarded to Mo Li Kai-yin after finding Studiodanz liable for compensation under the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance following the accident at Hong Kong Coliseum on July 28, 2022.
Li, 31, was paralysed from the neck down after being crushed by a 500kg (1,102lb) LED panel falling from the venue’s ceiling during the fourth performance of what would have been a series of 12 shows.
Li’s legal counsel, Eric Tsoi Yat-chung, said the applicant was previously admitted to several mainland Chinese and overseas institutions, including in Thailand and Beijing, while asking the court to respect his privacy by not disclosing details about his medical history in the hearing.
The dancer testified via a video link from what appeared to be a private hospital ward, with his mother on the side to help him open documents and turn pages.
