Reporter revealed Vikings-Eagles Jonathan Greenard trade two days before it went down

The Vikings and Eagles made a significant trade Friday night, but the move was seemingly leaked two days before it actually happened.

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Philly agreed to send two third-round picks (one in this year’s draft and one in 2027) to Minnesota for linebacker Jonathan Greenard.

But on the April 22 episode of the “Read Optional” podcast, reporter Ollie Connolly revealed the impending trade during a mock draft with co-host Jon Ledyard.

Jonathan Greenard was traded from the Vikings to the Eagles on Friday Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images While talking about the Eagles’ draft plans, Ledyard teed up Connolly to reveal his intel.

“You’re saying [the Eagles] are getting Jonathan Greenard. Is this breaking news or is this out there?” Ledyard asked.

“I assume it’s out there, right?” Connolly replied.

Ledyard then shot back: “I don’t think so, Ollie.”

Connolly then quipped, “Uh oh,” before re-stating his belief that the Eagles would address their need for an edge rusher through a trade on the second or third day of the draft.

That prediction proved to be correct as news of the Greenard trade broke Friday, with the Eagles reportedly giving the 2024 Pro Bowler a four-year, $100 million extension.

Connolly acknowledged his early reporting Friday night after the Greenard trade was made public.

Greenard is coming off a down year for Minnesota, as he notched just three sacks in 12 games after tallying 12 sacks the season before.

Minnesota, meanwhile, selected former Miami safety Jakobe Thomas with the No. 98 pick it received from Philly.
