Camila Giorgi returning to tennis after mysterious retirement

Camila Giorgi is set to make a return to tennis after her mysterious retirement two years ago.

The 34-year-old Italian, who left the sport to pursue a modeling career, said in response to a fan question on her Instagram story this week that she will return to the court in 2027, per multiple reports.

Giorgi, who hasn’t played since the Miami Open in March 2024 and was ranked as high as No. 26 in the world, recently announced she was pregnant.

Members of her family were also reportedly being investigated.

She was also accused by her landlord in Tuscany of not paying rent for six months and stealing furniture.

Giorgi resurfaced in February 2025 as a television reporter at the ATP Buenos Aires event.

A 2018 Wimbledon quarterfinalist, Giorgi secured the biggest win of her career at the WTA 1000 Canadian Open in 2021, defeating Karolina Pliskova in straight sets in the final.

She couldn’t break through at the grand slams, however, reaching just one fourth round since her 2018 run at the All England Club. She was bounced in the first round at the Australian Open in 2024 shortly before her retirement.
