A high-speed crash sent a Corvette careening off the 60 Freeway and into a luxury car dealership in Los Angeles County early Wednesday — but remarkably, the two passengers inside walked away without serious injuries.
The wreck occurred around 1:45 a.m. in the City of Industry, when emergency crews were called to a Maserati dealership on Gale Avenue after reports that a vehicle had slammed into the property, KTLA reported.
Dramatic video obtained by the outlet shows the Corvette weaving across several freeway lanes before smashing into a guardrail and launching off the roadway.
The car then flipped multiple times before crashing into the dealership.
A witness who was driving nearby said the Corvette may have been racing other vehicles moments before the crash.
“They sideswiped me at what had to be well over 110 miles per hour,” the witness said.
Authorities have not confirmed whether street racing played a role. The California Highway Patrol said the incident remains under investigation and is currently being treated as a property damage crash.
The Corvette was left mangled after coming to rest against the dealership building. The impact also damaged a light pole and sections of fencing on the property.
Despite the severity of the crash, both the driver and a passenger managed to escape without major injuries, according to officials.
City building and safety inspectors were called in to assess structural damage to the dealership.
