U.S. stocks finished higher on Thursday, Oct. 15, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 556.80 points, or 1.08%, to 52,177.69. The S&P 500 added 0.33% to 7,744.06, while the Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.08% to 26,713.03.

The rebound followed a volatile session in which investors weighed rising inflation against concerns about returns on artificial intelligence infrastructure spending. The Dow recovered from earlier weakness, while technology shares struggled to gain momentum.

September's producer price index rose 1.3% from August and 6.3% year over year, exceeding expectations. The hotter reading added to concerns that persistent price pressures could keep interest rates elevated and increase financing costs for companies carrying substantial debt.

CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) rebounded 5.94% to $69.69 at the close, recovering after falling 15.46% on Wednesday. However, Rocket Lab (RKLB) slid 6.6% after delaying the first launch of its Neutron rocket until 2027.

Investors also rotated toward companies outside the technology sector as doubts over AI spending weighed on sentiment. Thursday's gains showed that weakness in some high-growth stocks did not prevent the broader market from recovering, although inflation and borrowing costs remain key risks for investors.
