Confess to the dress: $18k wedding gown ‘destroyed’ by NYC dry cleaner

A Long Island bride said yes to a nearly $18,000 wedding dress — only to have it allegedly ruined by a luxury Midtown cleaner.

Danielle Sacco was over the moon when her six-month search ended at Kleinfeld Bridal of “Say Yes to the Dress” fame, when she found her luxurious Pnina Tornai gown.

She “knew immediately it was her dream dress,” the bride told The Post in a statement.

The 29-year-old physician’s assistant “felt like a princess” in the gown during her October 2024 Long Island wedding to Nassau County Police Officer Matthew Sacco.

The bride claimed Madame Paulette “destroyed” her luxury wedding gown. Matthew McDermott When it came time to care for the sparkling, haute couture dress, Sacco chose Madame Paulette ByNext, a high-profile West 39th Street cleaner “highly recommended” by friends. She shelled out $1,800 for their preservation service, she said.

The store boasts on its website that it offers “meticulous cleaning to restore your gown’s original beauty.

“Our preservation services guarantee their lasting integrity for generations.”

But her dream dress had a nightmarish ending, Sacco claimed in a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

“Instead of working on [the] wedding gown, they destroyed it,” she claimed in court papers.

Photos show damaged fabric near the hem of the skirt. The bride contends the dress was placed in a box which was too small — causing the gown’s course horsehair underlay to destroy the fabric.

Sacco “spent thousands of dollars just to clean the wedding gown, she goes to make sure it’s preserved and they ruined it,” said her attorney, Zachary Zain. “It’s all torn up, and torn up everywhere.

The bridge spent nearly $18,000 on her wedding gown, which was allegedly left torn in spots by the NYC cleaner. Obtained by NY Post “She’s devastated.”

It’s not the first time the cleaner has faced complaints.

In September, influencer Claudia Li Johnson caused a stir when she griped in a TikTok post that Madame Paulette lost her custom Vera Wang gown.

The dress was found in September after The Post exposed numerous complaints about the cleaner losing high-end items, including a $110,000 Fendi coat.

Online reviews revealed others who didn’t like the service.

“If you are a BRIDE, AVOID. RUN,” wrote one man, who claimed he spent a year trying to retrieve his wife’s wedding gown from the company.

Another claimed they’d sent a “hand-hemmed, hand-monogrammed damask tablecloth and napkins” to the company to be cleaned “and they were returned in SHREDS. strips of fabric hanging from hangers–looking like a stage version of beggar’s rags.”

The cleaner apologized to both customers in responses to the negative online reviews, and claimed it had no record of the issue with the tablecloth.

Madame Paulette did return a message seeking comment.
