Outlander‘s final season is putting Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and their loved ones right in the line of danger. Last week’s episode of the Starz hit ended with Roger (Richard Rankin) finding himself essentially enlisted into the Continental Army on the eve of a major battle in Savannah. Worse? Brianna (Sophie Skelton) is currently stuck in the city, visiting Lord John Grey (David Berry) to paint Lady Aramanthus Grey’s (Carla Woodcock) portrait.
Things are no less chill at Fraser’s Ridge. Jamie knows that his powerful — loyalist — tenant Captain Cunningham (Kieran Bew) is recruiting a militia to fight for the British in the Carolinas. Meanwhile, a literal blast from the past, Buck MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh), has arrived at Fraser’s Ridge to reunite with the rest of the time-traveling clan.
Meanwhile, Claire has started to show signs of manifesting the same magical healing powers that Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) showed off in Paris in Season 2, Fergus (César Domboy) has discovered he’s actually the Comte St. Germain’s (Stanley Weber) son, and William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) is getting closer to his cousin’s widow, Amaranthus.

We won’t know how Starz’s adaptation of Outlander will end until the Season 8 finale comes out on Friday, May 8. In fact, as of right now, stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe might not even know how it ends! That’s because multiple endings were shot back in 2024 and even the cast was kept in the dark.
When DECIDER visited the set of Outlander Season 8 in 2024, Heughan did tell journalists that one of the multiple endings he and Balfe were going to shoot hewed close to what Diana Gabaldon told him was going to be her ending in the books.
“Who knows what the actual ending will be? I don’t know specifically. We’re going to shoot various endings, but I don’t know which one they will use,” Heughan said. “But I think one of the ideas, one I’ve been asking for pushing for, is very similar to like how Diana’s book will end.”
The Outlander series finale will premiere on Starz on Friday, May 8.
