Michigan guard treated for possible allergic reaction days before Final Four

Elliot Cadeau is “fine” after suffering a possible allergic reaction right before Michigan was preparing to head to Indianapolis for the Final Four on Wednesday.

The Wolverines point guard had alerted the team’s medical staff that he may be having an allergic reaction to something he had eaten, the school said in a statement.

“The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine,” the statement said.

“Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today,” Michigan also said in its statement.

Cadeau had been averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 assists this season for the Wolverines while starting all 38 games for the No. 1 seed.

In four games during the NCAA Tournament, Cadeau has been averaging 10.5 points and 8.3 assists per game.

Cadeau, who transferred to Ann Arbor from North Carolina, is hoping to help Michigan win its first men’s basketball national championship since 1989.

The Wolverines have defeated Howard, Saint Louis, Alabama and Tennessee en route to the Final Four.

They will now have to try to topple a fellow No. 1 seed in Arizona on Saturday night, as the Wolverines make their first appearance in the Final Four since 2018.

Michigan will hold practices on Thursday and Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
